Company Background: Advanced Interactive Multi-Satellite Search
Tool
Based on the previous-generation Interactive
Multi-Satellite Search Tool, this tool added the important ability to display the
selected contents of satellite data files in real-time. This allowed researchers to
interactively see the preliminary contents of their subset search and then produce fully
geolocated composite files suitable for use with traditional Geographic Information
Systems (GIS) or mapping applications.
As with the previous-generation search tool, all datasets update according to their own
space-time characteristics, allowing researchers to use data as-is without any front-end
requirements for preprocessing to a common spatial or temporal grid. This ability is
important when ingesting real-time or unprocessed data.

with coverage footprints for the SSM/I (long rectangular outline) and the OTD (square
outline) satellites, ground-strike lightning events (yellow/black dots) and the
correlated real-time remapped GOES composite data (blue-white color scale). By using
advanced satellite coverage algorithms, this tool allows researchers to quickly and
intuitively find the desired subset of satellite data from large (usually 100+
Gigabyte)
data files. The search results could be interactively displayed by
this tool or processed into a geolocated
composite image for further use by other applications. |
