Radiance is designing and creating the "OK
Spaceplanes.com" website for the inaugural space flight out of the
newly opened Oklahoma Spaceport.
Funded by the Oklahoma
Space Industry Development Authority (OSIDA), the inaugural flight out
of the spaceport is the launch of JP
Aerospace's innovative Dark Sky Station scheduled for late March 2002. This vehicle will take
500 paper airplanes, built by Oklahoma school children, to an altitude of
20 miles (the "edge of space") and release them. Some of these airplanes may reach
as far as the
eastern U.S. coast! Each airplane will have a unique ID tag
instructing the finder to go the "OK Spaceplanes.com" website
and enter the location of their find. A map on the website will
provide up-to-date information on all found airplanes. The student
whose paper airplane flies the farthest will win a prize. The
website will feature an interactive 3D simulation (using Digital
Radiance's exclusive DigiScene™ technology)
of the view onboard the Dark Sky Station at various altitudes above the
Earth.
